The WW Jones Ranch comprises 110 + – acres located in the Paluxy River Valley. The home was built in 1873 and includes a 30×60 barn with covered storage. With approx. 100′ of elevation change and good cover for wildlife it is well suited for hunting and recreation. The ranch has 4 stock tanks and nearly a mile of Richardson Creek frontage that is lined with mature Pecan trees. Paved Road frontage is available with one-third mile on Bakers Crossing Road. Pecan orchard, approx. 45 acres in cultivation for hay and crops. Convenient to Fort Worth (50 miles) and Glen Rose (12 miles).
The dinosaur, Paluxysaurus jonesi’s name comes from the location of the dig site, a sandstone quarry on the Jones ranch in Hood County, Texas. This site was close to the town of Paluxy on the Paluxy River. The dinsosaur is now at the Fort Worth Museum.
It took 16 years for students, faculty, staff, and volunteers from Southern Methodist University to uncover, clean, and mount the pieces on view.
