A wonderful, eclectic Kessler Park home, built in 1925, derives its architectural details from Mission as well as Arts and Crafts homes of the era but is, in the end, its own unique style. One of the few two-story homes on the block, it sits majestically on a raised hillside lot framed by long-lived trees. In recent years the roof on the house and the rear entry garage were replaced as was the home’s electrical wiring and electrical panel. The exterior woodwork and the downstairs rooms were repainted earlier this year. The second floor HVAC has been replaced and the sewer line was replaced around 2000. Many of the original architectural details remain. The wood work in the front entry and the stairwell are beautiful examples of Arts and Crafts styling, as are the leaded glass cabinets in the dining room and living room. The home’s first-floor millwork retains its stained finishes and the contrast between their rich dark stain and the rooms’ off-white plaster walls is timeless.
